Moxie's Chef Wins Exclusive Competition!

We are very excited to announce that our very own Chef Sean Bouvette from our beautiful new Langley location has won the “Real Beer, Real Food, Real Simple” Chef’s Competition, organized by Molson Coors Brewing Company and the Food Network.

The competition required the competing chefs to develop a unique and inspiring dish utilizing or pairing with a Molson beer product. Chef Bouvette was the winner in the Vancouver-based competition, held on Friday October 21st at the Special Event Kitchen at BC Liquor Stores’ flagship Cambie location, in front of a packed house. Chef Bouvette’s winning appetizer, Chinese Five Spice Pork Sliders, consisted of Char Sui, Molson M lager-roasted pork sliders on Asian steamed buns, accompanied with sesame daikon slaw and lotus chips. For his win he received $2,000 cash!

Chef Bouvette has a true passion for culinary arts. His formal culinary education was followed with an apprenticeship at the resorts of Jasper and Banff. He has also travelled and worked extensively, most recently spending time with one of the Executive Chefs of Taj Hotels & Resorts in India who was hosting the India Times restaurant awards in Goa.

In addition to his cash winnings, Chef Sean Bouvette will be conducting food and beer pairing seminars at two BC Liquor Stores that will be broadcast live on Vancouver’s Virgin Radio. Please join him if you are in market from 12 - 4 pm on the following days:

Chef David Gavigan from our Robson location came in a close second, missing the win by only one point! His entry of Rickard’s Red BBQ Prawns on orzo risotto with saffron cream, toasted fennel seeds and cilantro was the crowd favourite, voted on by the live audience in attendance. He was awarded $1,000 cash for a close second place and $500 for “People’s Choice” in the competition.
